Teletype Messenger Privacy Policy
Version of 16 October 2026.
1. Who we are
The Teletype messenger (the web version at the *.teletype.cloud addresses and the apps for iPhone, Android and macOS; the "Service") is provided by Teletype LLC (INN 7729744709, OGRN 1137746560786; "we"). Address: 19 Sadovaya-Spasskaya St., bldg. 2, premises I, room 7, Moscow 107078.
Contact us: support@teletype.cloud.
2. Whose data it is
The Service is used by organizations. An organization creates its workspace at app.teletype.cloud and creates accounts for its employees. With respect to the data of workspace members and their correspondence, we act on behalf of the organization: the organization determines who uses the Service and for what purpose, and we process the data so that the Service works. With respect to the data of the owner of the app.teletype.cloud account portal and the data needed for payment, we act as the operator of personal data.
We process the data of workspace members on behalf of the organization; obtaining the employees' consent, where required, is the organization's obligation. We process the data of the account portal owner and the payment data to perform the contract with the organization and as required by law (accounting, cash receipts).
3. What data we process
- Account: name and display name, username, email address, phone number, job title, pronouns, time zone, profile photo, status, the “online” indicator. They are entered by the user or the organization's administrator; the app sets the time zone from the device.
- Account portal and payment: the email, name and photo of the owner of the app.teletype.cloud account portal; the organization's name and INN; information about payments and receipts. Card details do not reach us.
- Content: messages, files, photos and videos, voice messages, pages, spreadsheets, boards and tasks, reactions and read receipts.
- Calls: voice and video are transmitted to the call participants in real time. A call recording is saved only if a participant has turned it on.
- Location: only when the user sends it in a message themselves. We do not collect location in the background.
- Identifiers: the user number; Apple notification tokens (APNs, including for incoming calls) on iPhone and Mac. We do not collect the advertising identifier or the device identifier.
- Technical data: IP address, app and operating system version, error logs.
- Requests: reports of messages and people (with the message text) and blocking marks, emails to support, bug reports (email, name, organization, browser, screenshot, error log), account deletion requests.
- App permissions: microphone — voice messages and calls; camera — video in calls; location — only when sending it in a message; “Photos” — only to save photos and videos from conversations (files to send are chosen in the system window, access to the entire media library is not needed); notifications. The app does not read the phone's contacts. The Android app is updated from our website and asks for permission to install updates for this purpose.
4. Why
- for the Service to work: delivering messages, calls, notifications, search, synchronization between devices;
- security: protection against hacking, spam and abuse, handling reports;
- support for users and organizations;
- settlements with the organization under its plan.
We do not show advertising, do not sell data and do not track users in other companies' apps or on other companies' websites. The web version uses only the cookies and browser storage needed for sign-in and settings; there is no analytics or advertising.
5. Who we share data with
Only with those without whom the Service, or a feature that you or your organization invoked, does not work, and only to the extent necessary:
- hosting: the Service's servers and databases are located in Saint Petersburg, files and backups in Moscow (Russia). Data of Russian citizens is recorded and stored in databases located in Russia;
- Apple (APNs) — delivery of notifications to iPhone and Mac: the device token, the sender's name or the channel name, and the notification text. On Android, notifications arrive over the app's own connection to our server, without Google services;
- emails (sign-in code and link, service notifications) are sent through our mail server and the Resend service: the email address and the text of the email;
- AI features — only if they are enabled in the organization and only when a user invokes them:
- the Nika assistant in a call: while Nika is in the call, the voice of all its participants is transmitted to OpenAI; at the request of the participant who invited her, Nika reads and transmits to OpenAI the messages, tasks and pages available to that participant and may write a message or create a task on their behalf;
- meeting notes, if “Meeting notes” is turned on during recording: the audio of the recording is transmitted via OpenRouter to the OpenAI Whisper speech recognition model, and the transcript with the speakers' names to a DeepSeek model for a brief summary;
- @claude: the request and up to 20 latest messages of the thread, including messages of other participants, are transmitted to Anthropic with the personal key that the user connected themselves;
- @oracul: after the user has connected their account of the Oracul service, the request, the thread's messages and attached files are transmitted to Oracul and processed under its privacy policy;
- a call from the curator agent about an overdue task: the employee's speech is recognized, and the agent's replies are voiced via OpenRouter;
- link previews: for a link in a message, our server loads the page itself; YouTube, Vimeo, VK and Rutube videos are loaded from their websites only when you play them;
- page covers from Unsplash: the search query is sent from our server, and your device loads the chosen image from the Unsplash website;
- music in a call: if a participant turns on music, their device searches for it and loads it from the Radio Browser, Audius and iTunes catalogs;
- DaData — the organization's INN when a corporate workspace is created;
- payment at app.teletype.cloud: card details are entered in the CloudPayments form and do not reach us; for the cash receipt, OrangeData and the fiscal data operator receive the amount and the buyer's email or phone number;
- integrations that the organization or a user connects: the organization's bots, external apps with access to the Service (for example, Claude or ChatGPT), the organization's single sign-on — to the extent of the access granted;
- public authorities — only upon a lawful request.
Of those listed, Apple, OpenAI, OpenRouter and the models it calls, Anthropic, Resend and Unsplash are located outside Russia; so are the music catalogs, which the participant's device contacts itself. Transfers take place over encrypted channels and only for the purposes listed. At present, AI features, Unsplash and DaData do not work in all workspaces.
6. How long we keep data
- As long as the account and the organization's workspace exist.
- If you have deleted your account in the app (“You” → “Delete account”), the account is disabled immediately: it can no longer be signed in to, your devices are unlinked and no longer receive notifications. We delete the rest of the profile data (name, photo, phone number, job title, status) within 30 days, except what we are required to keep by law; until then, the organization's administrator can restore the account. In database backups, this data remains until the backups are deleted automatically, for no longer than 3 months. Messages in shared channels belong to the organization and remain with it. If you are the only owner of a workspace with other members, transfer the owner rights first.
- Database backups are stored separately from the Service's servers in encrypted form and are deleted automatically no later than 3 months after they are made.
7. Security
Between the apps and our servers, data is transmitted only over encrypted channels (HTTPS/TLS; for calls, WebRTC encryption). Between our servers, it is transmitted over encrypted tunnels or within the data center's closed network. Only employees who need it for their work have access to the servers.
8. Your rights
You may find out what data of yours we store, correct it, delete your account or withdraw your consent. You can delete your account in the app: “You” → “Delete account”. For other questions, contact your organization's administrator or support@teletype.cloud. We respond to requests about your data within 10 business days; if more time is needed, we will let you know, and the period will be extended by no more than 5 business days. We review content reports within 24 hours. If you believe that we are violating your rights, you may apply to Roskomnadzor or to a court.
9. Children
The Service is intended for work in organizations and is not intended for children under 16.
10. Changes
A new version is published on this page; the date of the version is stated at the top. We will notify you of material changes in the Service.
